THE THREE INVESTIGATORS IN…
THE MYSTERY OF THE DRAMATURGICAL DAGGER:
In the fourth book of a 26-book story arc, The Three Investigators find themselves on a high-stakes case at the Rocky Beach Summer Theatre Festival. The young Indian-American film star Daman Duwalia, headlining a production of Romeo and Juliet, contacts the team after receiving a series of menacing letters. Madhuri Singh, the play's director, has also been bullied, and a string of accidents threatens to sabotage the production before it even opens.
Jupiter quickly spots a clue in the letters: they were typed on a machine with a distinctive "signature." The team tracks the machine to the office of Sir Iain Anthony, the famed English actor now overseeing the festival. Could he be the one behind the threats or is there something more sinister at play?
The plot thickens when a fire erupts in Sir Iain's office, Jupiter discovers that Duwalia's dressing room has been bugged, and the team uncovers a troubling detail about Madhuri's supposedly lucky dagger. When the dagger is mysteriously magnetized, it nearly strikes Madhuri during the final tech rehearsal when it falls from the shadows above. As the danger escalates, it seems possible that someone is willing to go to great lengths to stop the play – and may even be prepared to kill to see it canceled.
Who is sabotaging the play – and why? What is the real connection between the dagger and the threats? What other secrets are hidden behind the scenes at the festival? Can their new acquaintance Mallory MacLeod prove her worth to Jupiter and the others on this seemingly baffling case? Will The Three Investigators unmask the villain before opening night, or will the curtain fall on a deadly conspiracy?
Join Jupiter, Pete, Bob, and Mallory as they untangle a twisted plot, chase down a hidden villain, and race against the clock to save the show. With danger lurking backstage and the stakes sky-high, you'll be surprised by the outcome of the thrilling showdown.
THE THREE INVESTIGATORS IN…
THE MYSTERY OF THE EXISTENTIAL ENVOY:
In the fifth book of a 26-book story arc, Pete is shocked when he stumbles upon what he thinks is a wildlife-smuggling operation right there in Rocky Beach. During a visit to Veronica's Exotic Birds, Pete meets Rafael Solares, a man with ties to both the Chumash people and the local Hispanic community, and a scarlet macaw named Rojo who speaks in strange, cryptic phrases. Rafael, who has just purchased Rojo from a mysterious Mexican seller at a farmer's market, is determined to get to the bottom of why the bird was sold for so little money.
When Rafael shows up at The Salvage Yard with a troubling tale, The Three Investigators are drawn into a complicated tangle involving the band Existential Evil. The band's lead singer is the son of Rafael's old high school English teacher, Wally, who has recently adopted a group of capybaras found wandering near Santa Barbara. Adding to the mystery, endangered hyacinth macaws have appeared in Wally's barn, and the connections between the animals and the strange events deepen.
The investigation takes The Three Investigators to Isla Vista. But when a routine reconnaissance mission ends in disaster, Jupiter, Pete, Bob, and Mallory are split into two teams - one held captive on a speeding sailboat and the other engaged in a high-speed chase on Rafael's boat The Rainbow Bridge.
What is the true story behind the capybaras and the macaws? Why did the Mexican man sell Rojo for so little? What is the clue hiding in a carillon's electronic music? What role is being played in all this by Veronica's Exotic Birds? How are Wally Tate's son and his band-mate Slade DeMarco involved, and what are they hiding?
Join Jupiter, Pete, Bob, and Mallory as they unravel a mystery involving wildlife smuggling and a deadly chase on the high seas. You'll want to be part of the action as the two halves of the team work together, miles apart, in the darkness of night.
THE THREE INVESTIGATORS IN…
THE MYSTERY OF THE FACTITIOUS FALCONER:
In the sixth book of a 26-book story arc, Jupiter receives an unusual birthday present from his Aunt Mathilda and Uncle Titus: three fencing lessons at the Center for Falconry and Fencing. The gift launches a new case involving the Second World War, the Norwegian Resistance, "degenerate" art, and a purple-shoelaced "artist" when the theft of a painting of a medieval falconer and his falcon from the Center's lobby puts The Three Investigators on the hunt.
Soon they discover that the Salvage Yard's resident carpenters, Leif and Magnus Haldorsson, have a family connection to the artist who painted the stolen canvas - as well as a sister named Freya who seems to have a crush on Bob! At a fundraising event to save priceless frescoes by the Russian-American painter Evgeni Voronin, The Three Investigators and Mallory cross paths with Matthias Mueller, the gallery owner who sold the stolen painting to Per Jorgensen - the famous Danish actor who purchased the painting to give to the Center in the first place.
As the team moves among the Center, the Haldorssons' home, Mueller's gallery, and Jorgensen's oceanside house, they find themselves contemplating a deeper mystery. Why did artist Aksel Olsen paint ten nearly identical paintings of the same falconer and falcon? Who put the paintings up for sale at a German auction house? Why is the purple-shoelaced "artist" Günther Böhm so determined to get his hands on every painting? And what secrets lie within the letters Freya's father inherited from her grandfather, who fought in the Norwegian Resistance during WWII?
As the answers to these questions slowly materialize, The Three Investigators put into place an ingenious plan to save from destruction a painting by one of the 20th century's great artists. But will the plan work?
Join The Three Investigators as they solve a case involving war-time secrets, priceless paintings, and an art thief with a taste for deception. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the series, you'll be intrigued by the sweep of this thoroughly twenty-first century mystery.
